Pickup trucks being recalled include the GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 between the years 2014 and 2018. The Chevy Silverado from 2014 to 2018 is also being recalled. SUVs included in the recall are the Chevy Suburban, Tahoe and the GMC Yukon from 2015 to 2017. The Cadillac Escalade from 2015 to 2017 is also included.
The voluntary recall was issued due to a possibility of "increased braking effort," said GM. This means the amount of distance required for the vehicle to come to a complete stop would increase, increasing the risk of a collision.
"Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module in these vehicles with a new calibration that will improve how the system utilizes the hydraulic brake boost assist function when vacuum assist is depleted," a GM spokesperson told CNN. The fix will come at no cost to customers.
