Ford is going big and bold with the brand new Mustang GT500. Originally announced in January, the new take on an old muscle car classic is finally be revealed, and the specs are something beautiful to behold. Not only is the new beast powerful, but it's also, "the most powerful street-legal Ford ever - with the most power- and torque-dense supercharged production V8 engine in the world."

As for what that all means? The Mustang GT500 will be able to reach a maximum speed of 180 miles per hour, nearly three times the legal speed limit on most freeways! Getting on the freeway will be a breeze, too, as the car is expected to be able to go from zero to 60 in less than three seconds.

Of course, there has been some backlash about the "low" miles per hour cap. Many of Ford's competitors are able to go well beyond 200 miles per hour, making the "all power but no finish" of the GT500 a curiosity.

To Ford's credit, they say they chose to focus the power on performance, not top speed. What they believe is important is how the car handles and performs on the road and on the track. Going 220 miles per hour is fun, but it's not very practical on your daily commute.
